Why I am qualified to represent District 7

I am qualified to represent my district because I am currently serving as the Michigan State Representative in HD7. During my first term in office I have developed a proven track record of delivering results for my district while also serving my constituents with commitment, passion and dedication.

I currently serve my constituents on (3) Standing House Committees: Energy, Financial Services and Communications & Technology. I am also a member of several Caucuses in the State House. I serve on the Executive Board as the Secretary of the Detroit Caucus, I am the Membership Chair of the Labor Caucus, and I formed the new Legislative Care Caucus where I serve as Chair. I am also a member of the Education Caucus, Progressive Women’s Caucus and The Michigan Legislative Black Caucus.

During my first term I have sponsored and/or co-sponsored over 500 bills that will benefit my constituents and the district. Due to the experience that I have gained in the state house it makes me uniquely qualified to continue serving my district as it now moves into Oakland and Wayne County. I look forward to helping bridge the Wayne and Oakland county divide and also helping both counties to work together with a collective voice.

Additionally, my experience and interpersonal skills have allowed me to develop valuable relationships with Lansing stakeholders and also within the community that will also aid me in continuing to serve my district well. I know that the valuable experience and institutional knowledge that I have gained during my first term will allow me to be ready to serve, and get to work on day ONE of 102nd Legislature.

But, I can only return to State House District 7 to represent YOU, with your support and your VOTE on August 2nd.

Thank You,

Helena
